I earned a Master in Teaching from City University and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the UW. For over 20 years I have worked with children as a teacher and a caregiver. What I love most about working with children is watching them find joy and wonder in their world. As a child, I enjoyed spending hours outside exploring, riding bikes with friends, and playing games. Now I spend my free time exploring and traveling with my family. I am a member of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance.
I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for nineteen years. Prior to joining The Farmhouse School, I taught preschool and art in both the greater Seattle area and on the West Coast. I currently have an Associates Degree, and am working toward a Bachelors degree in art therapy. My true passion lies in teaching, and I am constantly inspired by the curiosity, authenticity and creativity of children. As a child, I enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking and camping, family vacations at the Oregon Coast and Eastern Washington and playing basketball. Now, I enjoy reading, photography and painting.
My background in education includes a Master’s in Education and seven years teaching experience as an Elementary School Teacher and Reading Specialist. Most recently I have enjoyed volunteering with Issaquah School District as an Art Docent and taking Early Childhood Education courses at Bellevue College. I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and have a firm belief in the power of building positive relationships with kids. I believe that once a positive bond is formed, effective teaching can happen.
As a child I enjoyed playing soccer, going to the beach, and making up silly songs. Now in my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, playing soccer, and exploring the Pacific Northwest!
